Oracle Waterfront

Glass Fin Façade | Austin, TX

Overview

An urban waterfront campus like no other, Oracle’s people-centric, next-gen technology campus is forward-thinking and flexible. Situated right off the south shore of Lady Bird Lake in our hometown of Austin, the STG-designed campus is the first major office development on the Southeast Waterfront. Dramatic views, close proximity to Austin’s downtown core and exploding Central Business District, and the opportunity for employees to intertwine work, community and play together seamlessly define the space.

Phase II of the software giant’s multi-phased headquarters expansion project, completed in 2019, consists of a 440,000 SF addition that includes multiple insulated structural glass entrance façades – a significant addition to the Phase I 560,000 SF corporate campus. The building boasts 5 levels of expansive, open-concept office space, a dedicated parking garage, multiple dining and café options, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, expansive terraces, abundant meeting spaces and an impressive outdoor plaza. With high ceilings, abundant natural light, unique microclimates, inclusive spaces to recharge and connect employees and outdoor spaces to enable a strong connection to nature, the campus is designed to inspire employees and visitors alike.

An attractive work environment begins the moment employees and visitors walk through the entrance. With this in mind, Phase II of Oracle’s Campus redevelopment includes Sentech-designed structural insulated glass entrances that soar up to 26-feet and connect the site’s 2 main buildings.

An attractive work environment begins the moment employees and visitors walk through the entrance. With this in mind, Phase II of Oracle’s Campus redevelopment includes Sentech-designed stunning all-glass insulated structural entrances- a 2-story grand lobby that connects the site’s 2 main buildings. Material selection for the entrance façades ultimately came down to the use of insulated glass and structural glass fins to maintain energy efficiency requirements and meet green building standards, while enabling maximum transparency with minimal hardware.

Featuring Sentech’s VetraFin-G Series System, the soaring, high-performing entrance façades utilize floor-to-ceiling glass panels with glass fins for structural support to allow for abundant natural light and unobstructed views. Totaling approximately 12,270 SF of structural glass, the walls situated at the East, West, South and South East of the building rise up to 26-feet in height, spanning up to 125-feet in width at the east wall alone.  The 26-foot insulated glass panels (IGU’s) that make up the glass façade are made up of 1-11/16″ thick low-iron with an SGP laminate, a heat strengthened outboard lite, a low-e coat and fully tempered inboard lite with custom ceramic frit. All glass panels are structurally sealed to the glass fins for out-of-plane support and maximum transparency. Sentech designed, engineered and supplied all glass and hardware required to install these structural glass walls.

The campus continues to expand and transform the area into its full potential as a unique, mixed-use city core full of natural light, welcoming spaces and state-of the art design that embraces the sustainability and eco-friendly values of the tech company.
