The Hub at Peachtree Center

Specialty Glass Enclosure | Atlanta, GA

Overview

Peachtree Center’s redesigned plaza and new glass overhead enclosure, now termed “The Hub”, is located in the heart of Atlanta’s downtown business district. Originally designed by John Portman in the 1960s, Banyan Street Capital enlisted The Beck Group in 2017 to transform the retail center and outdoor courtyard into a reimagined, vibrant civic space that engages visitors and pedestrians alike. The center was recently added to the Georgia Register of Historical Places. The ambitious redevelopment project completely transformed the restaurant and retail center and outdoor courtyard, and the name “The Hub” is a nod to the center’s position at the heart of downtown Atlanta….and it’s energy, connectivity and community feel.

“Removing physical and visual barriers, the modernized plaza incorporates a show-stopping glass-enclosed staircase that connects directly to The Hub’s restaurants and retail shops below.”
– DBIA

The modernization of The Hub, aptly named for its pivotal role in the revitalization of Altanta’s downtown center, features a show-stopping glass overhead enclosure- a structure that encloses the staircase and connects directly to the restaurants and retail shops below. Transparent and inviting, the use of structural glass aligns with a visionary new model to enliven urban spaces. Using Sentech’s VetraFin G-Series System combined with our Specialty Glazing solutions, the specialty all-glass overhead enclosure is fully self-supporting to maximize transparency, with the custom stainless steel hardware allowing the glass fins to tilt at the same angle as the roof. Transparent, inviting and elegant, the structure lifts the space with generous natural light and unobstructed views of the plaza and surrounding structures.
