The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts

Structural Glass Point-Supported Façade | San Antonio, Texas

Designed by Seattle-based LMN Architects in partnership with Marmon Mok Architecture, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio, Texas, is a structure full of unifying contrasts and a distinctive tapestry of forms and materials. Bringing together stone and glass, old and new, historic and modern, function and aesthetic beauty, The Tobin Center is the winner of multiple design awards, including the 2018 Texas Society of Architects Design Award, the American Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum & European Centre, and the 2016 Urban Land Institute Award of Excellence. The historic, treasured colonial entrance façade of the Municipal Auditorium was designed to blend classic architectural elegance with a modern structural glass façade. The feature wall utilized Sentech’s VetraPoint system, strategically places behind the arched stone to illuminate the main entrance lobby and seamlessly connect the space, while welcoming visitors into San Antonio’s most beloved architectural icon.
